Juvéderm® in Alpharetta

What Is Juvéderm?

Juvéderm is the #1 dermal filler collection in the U.S., made up of six unique hyaluronic acid–based formulas, each engineered for a specific area and concern. Manufactured by AbbVie and first FDA-approved in 2006, the Juvéderm family uses Vycross® technology (a proprietary method of cross-linking hyaluronic acid at varying molecular weights) to create smooth, long-lasting gels that integrate naturally into facial tissues.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a sugar molecule found naturally in the skin. It draws in and retains moisture, giving skin its plumpness and elasticity. As we age, natural HA production slows, contributing to hollowness, lost volume, and deepening lines. Juvéderm fillers replenish this HA, restoring structure and smoothness from the inside out.

The Juvéderm Collection: Which Product Does What?

Although most dermal fillers are made with HA, they are not all the same. Different formulations are designed to address specific concerns, from cheek lifting and jawline contouring to lip augmentation and facial wrinkles. At The Swan Center, we offer the full line of Juvéderm fillers, which includes:

  • Juvéderm Voluma® XC: A thicker, firmer gel for restoring volume in the cheeks and midface. Voluma is also the first and only HA filler FDA-approved for moderate to severe temple hollowing. Results can last up to two years.
  • Juvéderm Vollure® XC: Formulated for moderate to severe facial lines and folds, including nasolabial folds (smile lines) and marionette lines. Its flexible gel moves naturally with facial expressions. Results typically last up to 18 months.
  • Juvéderm Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC: Used to add volume and definition to the lips and soften deeper facial lines. Ultra is well-suited for the lips and subtle volume; Ultra Plus handles more significant lines and folds. Results last about one year.
  • Juvéderm Volbella® XC: A lighter gel designed for the lips and the delicate under-eye area. It adds subtle definition to the lip border, smooths fine lines around the mouth, and improves the appearance of under-eye hollows. Results last up to one year.
  • Juvéderm Volux® XC: The first and only FDA-approved filler specifically indicated for the jawline. It uses a firmer formulation to sculpt and contour the jawline, addressing the loss of definition that commonly occurs with age. Results can last up to two years.

What Areas Can Juvéderm Treat?

The Juvéderm collection is FDA-approved for a wide range of facial concerns, including:

  • Cheeks and midface volume loss
  • Smile lines or marionette lines (nasolabial folds)
  • Lip volume and definition
  • Lip lines and perioral lines
  • Under-eye hollows (tear troughs)
  • Jawline definition
  • Chin profile
  • Temple hollowing

Experienced providers like ours may also use Juvéderm products off-label for areas such as the earlobes (nonsurgical otoplasty) or the nose (nonsurgical rhinoplasty). During your consultation, our skilled nurse injectors will assess your facial anatomy, discuss your goals, and recommend the appropriate product or combination of products to address your specific concerns.

What to Expect During Your Juvéderm Treatment

Juvéderm treatments at The Swan Center are quick and convenient, typically taking less than an hour to complete. At your appointment, your provider will review your goals, assess your facial anatomy, and map out the injection points. The treatment area will be cleansed, and a topical numbing cream may be applied for comfort, although most Juvéderm products already contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to minimize discomfort during the injection process.

Using a fine needle, your injector will administer the filler into targeted areas, which will vary depending on your treatment plan. Afterward, you can return to your normal routine with a few activity restrictions. We do recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours after treatment to allow your results to settle properly.

How Soon Will I See Results?

With dermal fillers like Juvéderm, you’ll notice an immediate difference: lines will look softer, facial contours will be more refined, and treated areas will look instantly plumper and more hydrated. However, your final results will develop as temporary side effects like swelling or bruising fully resolve, typically within the next two weeks. The product also needs some time to integrate with your tissues, which can also take up to two weeks.

Depending on the product and area treated, results typically last anywhere from six to 18 months. Some products can last for up to two years. Factors like metabolism, the area treated, how much product was used, and lifestyle habits can all affect longevity. Many patients schedule maintenance treatments before their results fully diminish to keep things consistent over time.

Meet Our Talented Nurse Injectors

At The Swan Center, Juvéderm treatments are performed by experienced nurse injectors who have trained alongside our board-certified plastic surgeons. Jordan Dupree, AGPCNP-C, Victoria Armistead, RN, BSN, and Natalie Jackson, RN, each bring a deep understanding of facial anatomy and a thoughtful eye for balance to every appointment.

They understand that volume loss doesn’t look the same for everyone. Knowing where a small amount of product will have the biggest impact and when subtlety matters most is what keeps results looking fresh rather than overdone. That’s why every treatment is carefully customized, creating outcomes that are beautiful, natural and completely you.

Juvéderm vs. Botox: What’s the Difference?

Juvéderm and Botox are two of our most popular injectable treatments, but they work in very different ways. Juvéderm is a dermal filler made with hyaluronic acid, designed to restore facial volume and smooth deeper lines. Botox (along with Dysport, Xeomin and Daxxify) is a neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes the facial muscles responsible for expression lines.

Because they treat different types of concerns, these treatments are often complementary rather than competitive. Many patients combine fillers and neurotoxins to address both volume loss and dynamic wrinkles for a more balanced, natural-looking result.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Juvéderm last?

It depends on the specific product and where it’s placed. Voluma and Volux, used in firmer, deeper tissues like the cheeks and jawline, can last up to two years. Products used in more mobile areas, like the lips, typically last for six to 18 months. Metabolism, the area treated, and the amount of product used all factor into how long results hold.

Can Juvéderm be combined with other treatments?

Absolutely. Combining Juvéderm with neurotoxins like Botox, Dysport, or Daxxify is one of the most effective ways to address the full scope of facial aging. Neurotoxins soften expression lines, while fillers restore volume, each addressing distinct concerns. Your injector can recommend a plan that addresses multiple areas in a single visit, depending on your goals and priorities.

How do I know which Juvéderm product is right for me?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer. During your consultation, your provider will assess your anatomy, review your concerns, and recommend the appropriate product (or combination of products). The right choice depends on the area being treated, the degree of volume loss you’re experiencing, and your overall aesthetic goals.

What are the most common side effects of Juvéderm?

The most common side effects are mild and temporary: swelling, redness, bruising, and tenderness at the injection sites. These typically resolve within a few days to two weeks. More serious complications, such as vascular occlusion, are rare but possible, which is why choosing an experienced, trained injector is essential.
