Choosing a Surgeon in Atlanta

Consulting with an experienced plastic surgeon is an important step to determine both if plastic surgery is right for you and which plastic surgeon is best suited to your personality, your needs, and your goals. For patients who cannot travel to our office for an in-person consultation, we offer our iConsult program, which allows patients to consult online with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons at The Swan Center and discuss all surgery options from the convenience of their laptop or smartphone.

Many out-of-town patients elect to pre-schedule their surgery prior to meeting with a surgeon, so they can reserve their preferred surgery date and make travel arrangements for recovery prior to arriving at our office. Our Patient Care Coordinators can communicate internationally by phone or email to keep you updated on information about our procedures and help you plan your pre- and post-operative appointments.

Medical Tourism: Is it safe?

Plastic surgery patients often search around the country to find the best plastic surgeon to meet their needs. Many patients are also willing to travel as way to ensure privacy and anonymity during and after their procedure. From east coast to west coast, Canada to the Caribbean, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting patients from all over the globe. Most recently, we welcomed two patients from Russia.

In the surgery world, we refer to this as “Medical Tourism.” In the past, many people traveled to foreign destinations in places such as South America or Southeast Asia to have their surgery performed. But often we heard negative stories in the media about botched surgery or complications in these and other countries primarily due to hazardous conditions and unsanitary practices. As a result, more patients are traveling to the United States where they can take comfort in having their procedures performed by board-certified plastic surgeons and where the standard of care is higher, providing a safer environment for their surgery and recovery.
