Atlanta Brow Lift Surgery

A heavy, wrinkled brow is most often the result of time and gravity, exacerbated by the many expressions we make every day with our brows. Occasionally a heavy brow can be genetic; our surgeons also have experience improving the brow line in younger patients.

A forehead lift or brow lift corrects or improves sagging eyebrows as well as horizontal expression lines or wrinkles across the forehead. Improvements are made to the deep muscles as the skin and superficial muscles are tightened for a more youthful appearance. In most cases, a tiny camera called an endoscope is used, which allows the surgeon to use very small incisions. These are hidden in the hairline, making brow lift a procedure with virtually undetectable scars.

A brow lift can accomplish the following:

  • Raises the eyebrows to a more pleasing position
  • Smoothes wrinkles across the forehead
  • Reduces shadowing over the eyes caused by a heavy brow
  • Gives patients a younger, brighter appearance

Non-Surgical Brow Lift Alternatives & Enhancements

A popular non-surgical alternative to a brow lift is BOTOX. This neurotoxin temporarily disables the movement of targeted muscles. This can dramatically reduce the appearance of expression-based forehead wrinkles, or wrinkles between your eyebrows. The biggest differences are that BOTOX can’t actually lift your brow to a higher position; in fact, it will relax it a bit more. Additionally, BOTOX is temporary.

BOTOX can also be used to enhance brow lift results. After surgery, though your brow will be smoother and higher, your face will still be capable of making expressions that cause brow wrinkles. BOTOX is the most effective way to help prevent future expression-based wrinkling.

A Brow Lift is Often Combined with Other Surgical Procedures

A forehead lift may be combined with other facial procedures to enhance results and further improve visible signs of aging, facial harmony, and symmetry and proportion of your features. Surgeries often combined with a brow lift in the same operation include:

Need total improvement in the eye area?

Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) removes excess, sagging skin from the upper and lower eyelids. The procedure can also be used to eliminate puffiness around and below the eyes.

Looking to have your face and neck look younger too?

Facelift (Rhytidectomy) is used to lift the skin on the face and neck; excess tissue and fat are removed during the procedure, dramatically reducing facial signs of aging. In certain cases, a mini or short-scar face lift may be performed.

Brow Lift Surgery & Recovery

A brow lift takes about one hour to perform. Your comfort during the procedure will be ensured with intravenous sedation or general anesthesia, administered by a board certified anesthesiologist. Any minor postoperative pain is easily managed with typical pain medications. Swelling and bruising should mostly resolve within two weeks. We’ll provide detailed, personalized instructions to help you prepare for surgery and recovery.
