What’s better than microneedling? Microneedling using radiofrequency! Also called RF microneedling, this powerful combination works hard to build collagen and tighten skin, drastically improving your skin’s tone and texture without surgery or fillers. Plus, most patients notice significant skin improvements after just a few treatments. Get Instagram-worthy skin without a filter!
The benefits of microneedling have been appreciated for decades, and with the addition of radiofrequency (RF), they just got even better. While traditional microneedling treatments utilize either a fine-needle roller or pen device to create microscopic puncture wounds in your skin’s top layer, RF microneedling with Lutronic Aesthetic’s Genius applies a customizable array of insulated needles to deliver high-intensity radiofrequency energy deep into your skin. This warms the deep dermis to stimulate new collagen fiber growth and tighten skin, leading to visible skin improvements that get better over the following months.
Reduce the appearance of acne scars and other scars
Minimize pores (and prevent future breakouts)
Improve stretch marks
Smooth wrinkles, folds, and fine lines
How does RF microneedling compare to traditional microneedling?
RF microneedling is similar to traditional microneedling, but with some major advantages:
RF microneedling works faster than traditional microneedling
Integrated radiofrequency energy helps break down scar tissue
Radiofrequency accelerates collagen production and skin tightening
Treatment is auto-customized for each patient using advanced technology
A variety of needle tips make treatment effective for all skin types
Where on my body can I have treatments performed?
Treatments can be used to tighten mild jowling or sagging skin around the eyelids, cheeks, chest, and/or neck. RF microneedling is also able to rejuvenate the hands, improving the appearance of crepey skin. Other areas that RF microneedling can be successfully used include the axilla, abdomen, arms, knees, and thighs.
How long does RF microneedling take?
RF microneedling treatments typically take less than an hour. Your exact treatment time will depend on the results of your skin consultation.
How many treatments will I need?
While you’ll likely notice significantly smoother, softer, younger-looking skin after just 1 RF microneedling treatment, we recommend patients undergo 3 treatments for optimal skin tone and texture improvements (this is a huge advantage over the 6 treatments typically recommended for microneedling!). Since your skin will continue to improve as new collagen is produced, your peak results will likely be visible in 3 to 6 months after your first treatment.
Does RF microneedling hurt?
RF microneedling can be described as mildly uncomfortable, but most patients say it doesn’t hurt. Because the Genius machine uses the smallest needles available and is auto-customized to your unique skin tone and texture, this treatment can be more comfortable than other microneedling treatments. To further minimize any discomfort, your aesthetician will apply a topical numbing ointment to your skin before treatment, and OTC pain relievers may be recommended following treatment.
What is recovery like?
Microneedling with RF requires little to no downtime. The procedure is performed as an outpatient procedure with no anesthesia required. Some redness is normal for the first few days following treatment and should quickly dissipate. You can resume your normal activities immediately after treatment, though we ask patients to wait until the following day before applying makeup. Also, be sure to apply a broad-spectrum SPF to protect your treated skin from the sun.
