What Is Xeomin?
Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is an FDA-approved neurotoxin used to temporarily reduce the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet. What to Expect During Your Xeomin Treatment

Then, they will cleanse the area and, if you prefer, apply a topical numbing cream for added comfort. Using a fine needle, they will inject small amounts of Xeomin into the specific facial muscles. Each injection lasts just a few seconds and feels like a small pinch.
From start to finish, appointments take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. If you opt for numbing cream, appointment times run longer, as it will need about 30 to 40 minutes to start working. Afterward, you’re free to return home and resume your normal routine, with only slight activity modifications (like no hot tubs or strenuous exercise) for the next 24-48 hours.
How Soon Will I See Results?
Initial improvements are generally noticeable within three to seven days, with full results appearing around the two-week mark as the targeted muscles fully relax. Why do other neurotoxins have accessory proteins?
Botox, Dysport and other neurotoxins contain accessory proteins because they are a natural byproduct of the manufacturing process. In nature, these proteins are produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium and help protect the toxin but are not responsible for its wrinkle-relaxing effects. Xeomin undergoes a unique two-step filtration process to remove these proteins, making it a great option for patients who want a “pure” or “naked” neurotoxin.
How can I tell if I’m developing “toxin resistance?”
“Toxin resistance” is a very rare but real response to neurotoxins that causes them to become less effective. It occurs because the body develops an antibody resistance to the botulinum toxin, often triggered by accessory proteins in the formula. Patients who develop Botox resistance may notice their results wearing off sooner than expected, need more units to achieve the same effect, or see little improvement despite proper dosing and injection techniques.
