Your nose is one of the most defining features of your face. It plays a big role in how balanced, symmetrical, and confident you feel in your appearance. At The Swan Center for Plastic Surgery in North Atlanta, serving Alpharetta, Dunwoody, Johns Creek, Roswell, Sandy Springs, and surrounding areas, we understand that if you're considering ethnic rhinoplasty, you may want to refine the shape of your nose without losing the traits that reflect your heritage. Our goal is to help you feel comfortable in your own skin by enhancing your natural beauty while honoring your unique identity.
Ethnic rhinoplasty is nose reshaping surgery performed for patients of diverse backgrounds, most often for those of Asian, African American, Hispanic/Latino, or Middle Eastern descent. However, people of any ethnicity may benefit. Unlike traditional rhinoplasty, ethnic rhinoplasty considers differences in nasal anatomy, skin thickness, and cartilage structure. The goal is never to “erase” your heritage but to create a refined, natural-looking result that feels authentically you.
Whether you want to address the width of your nose, refine the tip, improve your side profile, or breathe more easily, ethnic rhinoplasty can help restore balance and harmony to your features while respecting your individuality.

Because every nose is different, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. While patients of Asian, African American, and other ethnic backgrounds may share certain nasal characteristics within their groups, treatment is always personalized to each individual. Common goals include:
Refining a bulbous or wide nasal tip
Adjusting nostril shape or width
Building bridge height for better profile balance
Reducing nasal width to achieve facial harmony
Strengthening cartilage for tip projection and definition
Correcting functional issues such as breathing difficulties
Each plan is fully customized to your anatomy and vision. With Dr. Fardo’s expertise, your outcome will be designed to enhance your natural appearance while preserving the features that make you uniquely you.
Ethnic Rhinoplasty Before and After in Alpharetta, Georgia, by Dr. Dean Fardo
Ethnic rhinoplasty is an outpatient procedure, which means you can go home the same day. A board-certified anesthesiologist will administer either IV sedation or general anesthesia to keep you comfortable throughout surgery.
Depending on your needs, Dr. Fardo may recommend:
Open rhinoplasty, which involves a small incision between the nostrils for greater visibility and precision.
Closed rhinoplasty, in which all incisions are hidden inside the nostrils.
The right approach will depend on your anatomy and goals, and Dr. Fardo will discuss the options with you in detail during your consultation.
From the get-go Dr. Fardo and his team have been amazing and kind … He is so kind and professional and does his best to keep you informed and feel at ease. I honestly don’t think I could have picked a better doctor, and I highly recommend him and his staff!
Immediately after surgery, we will bandage your nose and support it with a splint, which we typically remove 5 to 7 days after surgery. Prescription medication can help during the first few days of discomfort, and then many patients quickly transition to over-the-counter options.
Bruising and swelling are common during the first month, but most patients return to work or school within 10 to 14 days. Light, noncontact exercise can usually resume after about 3 weeks.
How Long Will It Take To See My Results?
You’ll notice early improvements as the initial swelling subsides, often within 3 months of surgery. The nasal tip tends to hold onto swelling the longest, so subtle refinements will continue to emerge over the next several months.
You can expect to see your final results around 12 months after surgery, with balanced, natural-looking changes that complement your features while respecting your heritage.
How Much Does Ethnic Rhinoplasty Cost in Atlanta?
The cost of ethnic rhinoplasty at The Swan Center varies depending on the complexity of your surgery and your personal goals. You’ll receive a detailed cost estimate at your consultation.
