Even the fittest of us can have stubborn pockets of fat that just won't go away, even with daily workouts and a fantastic diet. Sound familiar? If so, CoolSculpting may be for you! This non-surgical fat reduction system can help you reduce unwanted areas of fat without surgery, needles, or little to no downtime.
Slim down & shape up…without surgery, needles, or little to no downtime!
Excess fat that simply won’t budge? Not cool. Being able to safely, comfortably slim down persistent bulges without needles or little to no downtime? Super cool! CoolSculpting® is the #1 non-surgical fat reduction treatment in the world, for good reason.
By freezing stubborn fat cells, CoolSculpting can help you reduce a stubborn muffin top, love handles, belly fat, double chin and many other common problem areas without an invasive procedure. The Swan Center for Plastic Surgery in Alpharetta is proud to offer this highly effective, FDA-cleared procedure—and so far we’ve helped hundreds of patients reduce stubborn areas and lose unwanted inches.
Freezing off your fat may sound equal parts too good to be true and also slightly daunting—but the science behind CoolSculpting is based on a groundbreaking discovery by the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
Cryolipolysis (“cryo” = cold, “lipolysis” = fat breakdown) occurs when fat cells are rapidly cooled to the specific temperature where breakdown occurs, without harming any surrounding tissues. When the CoolSculpting device is applied to an area, controlled cooling essentially kills the targeted fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated by your body as waste over the course of around 90 days.
Where can I have CoolSculpting done?
Here at The Swan Center, we offer the latest CoolSculpting technology and accompanying suite of applicators, so we can help you spot-reduce bulges in more areas than ever. CoolSculpting is FDA approved to target fat on the:
Flanks (“muffin top” or “love handles”)
Inner and outer thighs (“saddlebags”)
Under the butt (“banana roll”)
With these applicators, we are able to treat areas with both pinchable or non-pinchable fat. When you come in to consult, we’ll chat about your concerns and recommend the best applicator to provide you with optimal results.
What kind of results can I expect from CoolSculpting?
While results can vary, it’s normal for patients to experience around a 20% fat reduction in the area that was treated. You may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after your treatment, but you will experience the most dramatic results over the span of about two to three months. Your body is still flushing fat cells and will continue doing so for up to six months after treatment.
Many Atlanta CoolSculpting patients are satisfied after one treatment. However, during your CoolSculpting consultation, we can discuss a treatment plan that will meet your specific treatment needs. For most patients, CoolSculpting results are long-lasting. After CoolSculpting, the treated fat cells are metabolized by your body, so as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle, long-term results should remain stable.
What is CoolSculpting Elite?
For our patients who want the next level in non-surgical body contouring, we now offer CoolSculpting Elite® at our Atlanta center.
CoolSculpting Elite uses new C-shaped applicators that allow for more tissue contact and suction, resulting in more even fat reduction. And because CoolSculpting Elite uses 2 treatment applicators (traditional CoolSculpting only uses 1) to treat 2 areas at the same time with one machine, treatment time is cut in half, and fewer treatments may be needed. Like traditional CoolSculpting, CoolSculpting Elite is FDA-approved to treat up to 9 areas of the body, including the thighs, abdomen, flanks, upper arms, underneath the buttocks, around the jawline, and beneath the chin.
Does CoolSculpting Elite cost more than CoolSculpting?
Since CoolSculpting Elite treatments cost the same as traditional CoolSculpting—and because they boast quicker treatment times and faster results—CoolSculpting Elite is by far the superior choice for prospective patients.
What happens during a CoolSculpting treatment?
When you arrive at The Swan Center, one of our friendly patient coordinators will take all of your paperwork and show you to our CoolRoom. You’ll get to meet your lovely CoolSculpting technician, who will explain the process and answer any questions you may have.
Once you’ve gotten comfortable, we’ll mark your areas of concern, place a cool gel pad on the treatment area, and then position the CoolSculpting device for optimal results. It’s normal to feel some firm suction and an intense cold for the first few minutes once treatment starts, as the device pulls the area up between the cooling panels. This sensation typically lasts for only a brief time before the area goes numb.
Treatment usually takes around an hour or two, depending on how many areas you’re having done. During this time, you can get comfy with your favorite show on Netflix or catch up on work emails while enjoying a catered lunch.
When your time is up, we’ll carefully remove the device—and if you’re having a larger area like your abdomen treated, you’ll get your first glimpse at your “stick of butter.” Your provider will carefully massage the area, which we’ve found to enhance results by helping break down the fat further.
Can I return to normal activities after CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is completely non-surgical, so our Atlanta CoolSculpting patients typically return to their normal routines right away. Some patients experience redness, minor bruising, tingling, numbness or discomfort in the treated area, but this is temporary and should resolve completely. Often times, patients return to work after the session is over. Learn more about CoolSculpting safety & side effects.
The price of your treatment will vary based on the area(s) being treated, but we’ve prepared some general CoolSculpting cost estimate information for you.
Who should perform CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a popular technology that’s becoming more and more widely available—but not all providers are created equal. At The Swan Center, we have been offering CoolSculpting for many years under the supervision of our board certified plastic surgeons. All of our CoolSculpting technicians have received training on the device and are happy to answer any questions you may have.
