What Can a Facelift Do for You?

We get a lot of questions about facelifts from our clients in Alpharetta and the Atlanta area. Basically, the main purpose of a facelift is to reshape deep facial structures and remove extra skin tissue to bring back a more youthful appearance. Lax, saggy tissues are most often found in the lower half of the face (neck and jowls).

If you have a lot of sagging skin, nothing can be done to shrink it significantly; it has to be repositioned, removed and repaired. Facelift surgeries often are a combination of eyelid surgeries (blepharoplasties), forehead (brow) lifts and / or neck lifts to ensure a complete uniform look of the new and improved face.

Traditional facelifts can easily fix: drooping eyebrows, deep under-eye creases, deep forehead creases, deep folds or creases along the nose, lowered cheek pad, jowls and “turkey gobble” neck, and the saggy skin along the chin or jaw line.

The best candidate for a facelift would still have supple skin and is at, or very close to, their ideal weight. As with any invasive surgical procedure, you should be in satisfactory health before the operation. However, if you do have a certain medical condition that does not mean you won’t do well in surgery. It simply means we have to take special care to ensure these issues are well controlled and will not interfere with you aesthetic plans. Patient safety is, and always will be, our top priority.

A facelift procedure can reverse the clock and take years off of a patient’s face. Of course, the results will be dependent on a number of other factors including your age. Younger patients have skin that recovers quicker, meaning facelift improvements usually last longer than those of an older patient with looser skin.

Older patients are still able to achieve outstanding results and often report that along with the new physical change, their psyche undergoes a transformation as well, allowing them to both look AND feel more youthful. Surgical facelift techniques have made great advancements and the results gained from these procedures are more natural and long lasting.

If you live in the Alpharetta or Atlanta area and are considering a facelift or other cosmetic procedure, don’t hesitate to contact our office today.
