Balancing your facial features with rhinoplasty can help you achieve facial symmetry and enhance your appearance. But does fixing your nose also bust your budget? The truth is that many factors come into play when determining how much is a nose job in your area.

If Googling “How much is a rhinoplasty procedure?” still leaves you with many unanswered questions, keep reading to learn more about what impacts rhinoplasty cost. However, keep in mind that while procedure cost is an important consideration, it should never be the deciding factor when choosing a top rhinoplasty surgeon.

[eii-gallery-images views=”19266/138830, 19266/138831″ display_captions=”y” caption=”Before & After Rhinoplasty”]

How Much is a Nose Job in Atlanta?

According to the medical review site RealSelf, the average price for a nose job in Atlanta is $9,291. At our practice, your rhinoplasty can range from $8,000 and up, depending on your specific needs.

Common factors that impact rhinoplasty pricing in Atlanta and surrounding areas include:

Your surgeon’s experience level

Surgical facility fees

Surgeon’s fees

Anesthesia costs

Post-procedure medications and supplies

Our pricing is always transparent and inclusive of all costs. After your consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons, you will receive a complete price estimate.

Open vs Closed Rhinoplasty Cost

The surgical technique your physician chooses impacts your rhinoplasty cost—the more complex the technique, the more time and effort your surgeon must expend. An open rhinoplasty is a more challenging and complex surgery for your plastic surgeon than a closed rhinoplasty and is usually more expensive.

You can learn more about the difference between open vs closed rhinoplasty and the pros and cons of each technique in another recent blog post. At The Swan Center, your procedure is always customized to help you achieve the safest and most optimal results.

Does Insurance Cover Rhinoplasty?

Your motivation for the surgery can impact whether your procedure is covered by insurance. When rhinoplasty is performed for medical reasons, such as improving breathing function, it may be fully or partially covered by your health insurance. However, if you’re pursuing rhinoplasty strictly for cosmetic reasons, you should expect to pay out-of-pocket.

We highly recommend reviewing your insurance policy’s restrictions and pre-authorization requirements in advance. For your flexibility and convenience, we also offer rhinoplasty financing options such as CareCredit® and PatientFi to help you pay for your procedure.

Choosing a Qualified Rhinoplasty Surgeon

While cost is always an essential consideration, selecting the best surgeon for your needs is paramount. Do your homework before meeting with prospective surgeons by reading patient reviews and viewing their gallery of before and after rhinoplasty photos. During your initial consultation, ensure that you feel comfortable communicating openly with your surgeon and that all your questions and concerns are thoroughly addressed.

Schedule Your Rhinoplasty Consultation

If you’re ready to put your best face forward, we encourage you to request a consultation online, or call us at
(770) 667-0904 to make an appointment. Our team will thoroughly assess your aesthetic needs and share transparent pricing details so you can confidently plan your rhinoplasty procedure!
The post How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost? appeared first on Swan Center for Plastic Surgery.

Rhinoplasty, also called nose reshaping surgery, has long been one of the most popular plastic surgeries, with over 352,555 procedures performed in 2020. Not only can it change one’s entire appearance by restoring balance and symmetry to the face, but it can also be used to repair a deviated septum and improve breathing.

But while rhinoplasty is commonly performed, it is exceptionally nuanced, requiring great skill, precision, and planning. The main factor a surgeon must consider when planning a rhinoplasty is whether to use an open or a closed technique. In this post, you’ll learn why this choice is so important, as well as which rhinoplasty technique may be best suited for you.

Open vs. closed rhinoplasty: How are they different?

There are two rhinoplasty techniques used by plastic surgeons: open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty. Here’s how they differ:

Open rhinoplasty

Open rhinoplasty is performed from the outside of the nose; the surgeon gains visibility and access with an added small incision on the underside of the nose between the nostrils. It is the most common type of rhinoplasty performed.

Advantages to open rhinoplasty include:

It allows your surgeon to better visualize your internal nasal framework

It provides your surgeon with increased surgical precision

It preserves your cartilage and your internal nasal structure

Open rhinoplasty allows your surgeon to better visualize, and therefore reshape, your internal nasal framework.

There are, however, a few disadvantages to open rhinoplasty when compared with closed rhinoplasty:

It leaves a faint scar under the nose, between the nostrils (on the columella)

It is usually associated with more postoperative swelling

It may require a longer surgical time

When to have an open rhinoplasty

You want to make changes to your nasal tip

You want to correct a crooked bridge

You are considering a revision rhinoplasty

Closed rhinoplasty

Closed rhinoplasty is performed from the inside of the nose, with incisions made in the nostrils.

There are a few advantages of closed rhinoplasty:

The skin on the outside of the nose is not affected, therefore it doesn’t leave any visible scars

There is often less postoperative swelling

Surgical time is usually shorter

Disadvantages of closed rhinoplasty include:

It limits a surgeon’s ability to reshape bone and cartilage because they cannot easily see or access the internal structure of the nose

When to have a closed rhinoplasty

You have thicker nasal skin (thicker skin typically takes longer to heal)

You want to remove a dorsal hump (a bump on your nasal bridge) but do not need any changes to your nasal tip

Our takeaway: Ultimately, whether you have an open or closed rhinoplasty will depend on your goals and your surgeon’s assessment. At The Swan Center of Atlanta, our plastic surgeons often prefer open rhinoplasty because it allows them to discern which tissues need to be altered and to what extent, which is not easy to do during closed rhinoplasty.

If you are worried about open rhinoplasty leaving a scar, consider that 98% of patients are not bothered by their external rhinoplasty scar, with 90% considering it to be “invisible or barely perceptible,” according to an article in StatPearls. With proper care, your rhinoplasty scar should fade quickly.

98% of patients are not bothered by their external rhinoplasty scar, with 90% considering it to be “invisible or barely perceptible.”

How long does it take to heal from rhinoplasty?

90% of nasal swelling is resolved within 3 months of surgery for most of our Atlanta rhinoplasty patients. And, although it may take up to a year for the last 10% of swelling to fully resolve, it is typically confined to the nasal tip, with small improvements gradually becoming visible.

What other rhinoplasty procedures can I choose from?

Other types of rhinoplasty include:

Septoplasty is a type of functional rhinoplasty used to correct a deviated septum. Septoplasty only addresses the internal structure of the nose; it doesn’t affect the outer appearance of the nose.

Tip plasty is a modified form of open rhinoplasty that involves improving only the tip of the nose.

Flared nostril rhinoplasty. Some patients’ primary concern is the shape of their nostrils; flaring nostrils can be modified with an alar base resection.

Liquid rhinoplasty uses a series of hyaluronic acid-based filler injections to improve the appearance of the nose. This is a completely non-surgical procedure with almost no downtime. Liquid rhinoplasty is very effective at reducing the appearance of a dorsal hump and increasing projection, but it cannot physically change the shape of the nose or improve its function.

‘Ethnic’ rhinoplasty is a term that has been used in the past, however, here at The Swan Center, we simply call nose reshaping “rhinoplasty” regardless of a patient’s genetic background. Our surgeons work with each of their patients to reshape their noses in a manner that suits their unique goals and anatomy.

Which surgeon performs the best rhinoplasty in Atlanta?

There is no single plastic surgeon who could rightfully be called the “best” rhinoplasty surgeon in Atlanta, as our city is home to a number of very experienced and talented cosmetic plastic surgeons. That said, the best rhinoplasty surgeon in Atlanta for you will be a board certified plastic surgeon that shares your aesthetic sensibility, takes time to assess your unique facial anatomy, demonstrates they have the skill to produce your desired outcome with past patient photos, and has a caring and qualified support team to help you all along the way.

How much is rhinoplasty in Atlanta?

Rhinoplasty typically costs between $6,500-$10,000+ in Atlanta depending on:

Whether or not this cost includes surgeon’s and facility fees

Whether or not your plastic surgeon is board certified

Whether or not your surgeon operates in an accredited surgical facility

The specific nature of your rhinoplasty (cosmetic vs. functional, open vs. closed)

At The Swan Center in Atlanta, rhinoplasty costs approximately $6,900 – $10,000, commensurate with the city’s average.

Today there are more ways than ever to address cosmetic concerns. Non-surgical procedures are increasingly popular, and new non-invasive treatments are being developed each year. However, the level of invasiveness for treatments varies and the terms used to describe how they work can be confusing.

Here at the Swan Center, we’ve helped thousands of Atlanta plastic surgery patients navigate the wide range of available treatments and procedures.

We put together the following guide to help you understand the level of invasiveness for various treatment types, and what effect they may have on your busy lifestyle.

What’s an invasive procedure?

The term invasive is typically used to describe surgical procedures that require incisions and appreciably alter skin or underlying tissues at the time of the procedure. As such, this class of procedures requires bed rest for a few days up to a few weeks. Surgical procedures usually include the option for general anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation.

Examples of common invasive plastic surgery procedures:

Rhinoplasty (nose enhancement or repair)

Breast augmentation (placement of breast implants)

Facelift surgery (improvement of sagging skin on lower face and neck)

Liposuction (fat reduction)

Total healing time: Two to six months, depending on the procedure, with patient rest averaging one to two weeks.

Results: Varies between one to six months.

The risks involved with invasive plastic surgery procedures are usually greater than non-invasive options. However, these procedures are particularly effective at delivering results and are considered safe when performed by a board certified plastic surgeon.

So, what does minimally invasive mean?

Minimally invasive treatments require significantly less or no downtime and very little discomfort, but often involve a puncture or even a small incision. Minimally invasive procedures are considered less risky than other methods and do not require general anesthesia.

Examples of common minimally invasive options:

Dysport®, Restylane®, and dermal fillers (injectable treatments)

Skin procedures such as scar revision or dermaplaning

Deep skin peels

Healing time: Zero to ten days, with patient returning to work immediately or within a few days.

Results: Varies between a few days to two weeks.

These cosmetic treatments are growing in popularity because patients can return to normal activities quickly, the risk of infection or complication is low, and the results can be impressive.

What about non-surgical options?

Non-surgical cosmetic treatments involve no needles, no punctures, and no anesthesia. Foreign objects do not enter your body at any time and the entire cosmetic treatment is done externally.

These types of treatments typically involve very little downtime, with patients being able to resume unrestricted normal activity very quickly after treatment. Non-surgical treatments may occasionally be considered invasive on some level, depending on how they affect both the treatment area and underlying tissues.

Examples of common non-surgical treatments:

Laser treatments (such as fractional skin resurfacing or hair removal)

Light chemical peels

Healing time: Anywhere between one day to two weeks, with patient typically feeling and looking back to normal within a few days.

Results: Varies between one week to three months.

Non-invasive treatments

Many skincare treatments are considered non-invasive because they do not puncture the skin or otherwise impact the underlying tissues. These treatments are quite comfortable and often relaxing. There is no downtime whatsoever.

Examples of common non-invasive treatments:

Facials (to improve quality of skin through cleansing, exfoliation, & hydration)

Medical-grade skincare (products used at home or applied professionally to improve skin)

Healing time: Usually minimal, with patient resuming normal activity immediately

Results: Typically, results can be seen immediately or within a few days

Non-invasive treatments are especially effective when used in conjunction with other procedures. Be sure to ask which treatment combinations are most appropriate for your skin type and goals.

How do I know what’s right for me?

We hope we’ve cleared up some of your questions here, but the best way to learn about effective cosmetic treatments is to talk to a trusted professional. Our board certified surgeons and skincare experts can guide you through the process and help you determine which treatments are a good fit for you.

The Swan Center offers private consultations for potential patients. We can answer all of your questions and develop a safe and effective treatment plan that suits your needs.
The post Non-Surgical & Minimally Invasive Are All the Rage, but What Do They Mean? appeared first on Swan Center for Plastic Surgery.
