What to Expect During Treatment 

Your Botox appointment begins with a consultation and facial movement assessment. Your injector will ask about your goals, review the areas you want to treat and evaluate how your muscles move when you squint, frown or raise your eyebrows. This step is especially important for men, who often need a different dosing strategy to achieve subtle results.

Once your treatment plan is mapped out, Botox is injected into the targeted muscles using a very fine needle. The appointment is quick, typically taking just 10-15 minutes once your plan is finalized. Most patients describe the injections as a small pinch, and there is little to no downtime afterward. You may have some redness at the injection sites, but this fades quickly.

Before you leave, your injector will review aftercare instructions, including guidelines on how long to avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol and excessive heat for the best results. From there, you can return to most normal activities the same day.

How Soon Will I See Results?

Botox results develop gradually. Most men start to notice reduced muscle activity and a softening of expression lines and wrinkles within three to five days, with full effects appearing after 10-14 days. Once your final results develop, they typically last up to four months. 

That being said, men tend to have more active facial muscles than women, which can cause the neurotoxin to break down at a slightly faster rate. We recommend assessing whether you need a touch-up after three months, especially if you notice expression lines reappearing.

Botox should not make you look frozen when it is performed with the right dose. The goal is to reduce the muscle activity that creates deep lines while preserving enough movement for natural expression. At The Swan Center, our injectors take a personalized, anatomy-first approach so you still look like yourself, just more relaxed and refreshed.

Is Botox safe for men?

Botox is widely used for wrinkle reduction and is considered safe when performed by a qualified provider. Although Botox is derived from a neurotoxin, it is highly purified and used in very small, carefully measured doses. When injected into targeted muscles, it has a localized effect. During your consultation, your Swan Center injector will review your medical history, answer safety questions and explain whether Botox, Dysport, Xeomin or Daxxify is the best fit for you.

How many units will I need?

Compared to women, men have stronger, broader facial muscles and often need more Botox to achieve the same results. However, the exact number of units depends on the treatment area, muscle activity and wrinkle depth. Can I work out after Botox?

At The Swan Center, we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours after Botox. This helps reduce the risk of product migration, swelling or irritation at the injection sites. Your injector will give you specific aftercare instructions based on your treatment plan.

Is Botox different from Dysport, Xeomin or Daxxify?

Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Daxxify are all wrinkle relaxers that use botulinum toxin to reduce muscle activity, but they differ in formulation, onset and spread. During your consultation, your provider will review the options and help you choose the right product for your goals.
